During the last weekend of February 3 and 4, the Cañoto Urbanization Square in Las Palmas was the scene of an ambitious revitalization project promoted by PPO Abogados in the framework of its activities of Corporate Social Responsibility, and Coral Paintings, with its Global Program “Vení al Color” by AkzoNobel. More than 40 volunteers, including volunteers from PPO Abogados, Pintura Coral, and local residents. A landscape designer and talented artist, Renate Hollweg came together to carry out this initiative.
The initiative, in line with the environmental commitment and care of the city’s public spaces, seeks to raise awareness of the importance of preserving green areas. The contribution included the donation of approximately 60 litres of Coral Paintings for the creation of an extraordinary artistic mural of 80 mts2 in order to celebrate the flora and fauna of the city. In turn, the restoration and painting of urban children’s games, as well as the planting of vegetation and the improvement of gardens.
For his part, Alejandro Pemintel, managing partner of PPO, said that “The idea of these works is to support and raise awareness among the neighbors of our city about the importance of conserving and maintaining green areas in good condition to improve their quality of life, embellish our city and avoid the misuse of these spaces.”
The artistic mural, by Renate Holweg, conveys a message of “freedom and the ability to meet our deepest being that is nature.” In turn Renate highlighted “The Mural is a composition among flowers of the Toborochi, as an original symbol of our city of Santa Cruz, accompanied by hummingbird. The colors chosen are well tropical with the aim of highlighting and beautifying the neighborhood in order to make it a meeting place for neighbors and the community. ” On the other hand, Natalia Ruiz-Saldias, Manager of Trade Marketing and Technical Promotion for Coral Paintings of the AkzoNobel group, highlighted: “From AkzoNobel, within the framework of our global program” Vení al Color, “we want to strengthen these initiatives that contribute to the improvement and embellishment of public areas. We believe in the transformative power of color and that by putting these spaces in value, we promote a contagious effect to care for them and also contribute to promoting awareness in the care of the environment.”
The inauguration, held on February 3 and 4, was attended by Gloria Yunis, President of the Neighborhood Board who said: “we are very happy with the collaboration of all the actors that made possible this transformation that embellishes and improves this space that we will certainly value and care for as part of this community,” representatives of Coral Paintings and partners of the firm PPO Abogados, celebrating together with the neighbors the transformation achieved and encouraging the continuous care of the beautified spaces for their enjoyment.
