Commercial Law

Marcelo Fortún is a member of PPO’s Corporate and Commercial Law teams.

His practice focuses on corporate and commercial advice to multinational and local companies in the development of their businesses in Bolivia. Within this area, he provides support in day-to-day matters, such as the incorporation of companies, due diligence processes for the acquisition and sale of companies and businesses, mergers, dissolutions and liquidations, as well as the implementation of good corporate governance practices.

Marcelo provides regulatory and administrative advice to companies operating in various industries (construction and real estate, food, agribusiness, retail, transportation and logistics, among others).

He also develops his activities in the negotiation of various types of commercial contracts such as distribution, supply and asset purchase and sale agreements. Particularly, he has collaborated with his experience in transactional operations in the construction and real estate sector, executing complex legal and registry procedures for mergers and splitting of terrains.

Before joining PPO Marcelo developed professional practices in one of the most important conciliation and arbitration centers in the country and provided services to several real estate companies with a commercial focus.

Marcelo obtained his law degree, with honors, from Universidad Autónoma Gabriel Rene Moreno (UAGRM).

  • PREMIO JOVEN – Youth Peace Prize awarded by the Autonomous Departmental Government of Santa Cruz in recognition of his advocacy and active cooperation in society.
  • Best Speaker at the VI National Arbitration Competition organized by the Conciliation and Arbitration Center of the Chamber of Industry, Commerce and Tourism of Santa Cruz.
  • 1st place in the 1st Essay Contest on Alternative Dispute Resolution Methods organized by the Conciliation and Arbitration Center of the Chamber of Industry, Commerce and Tourism of Santa Cruz.
  • 1st place in XI Essay Contest of the Central Bank of Bolivia.
