Mattias Garrón is a partner in PPO and leads its Mining and Natural Resources practice.
His practice is recognized by Chambers and Partners with clients commenting that “he “delivers excellent results with high efficiency” and “has outstanding knowledge of the mining sector.”
His practice focuses on advising local and foreign companies with respect to project development, mergers and acquisitions and foreign investment in the natural resources and mining sectors, including lithium, hydrocarbons and minerals. In 2023, he and PPO organized the first international mining summit in Oruro, Bolivia, coordinated with the Bolivian Ministry of Mining.
In parallel, he has significant experience in commercial matters, having advised clients of virtually all industries regarding their commercial relationships.
Prior to joining PPO as a partner, Mattías was a senior associate in a regional Latin American law firm. Prior to that, he worked as legal counsel for Airbus in Spain and in the energy sector as legal counsel to AIR BP. He was also previously head of the Legal Analysis Unit of the Bolivian Attorney General (Procuraduria General del Estado).
Mattias earned his law degree from the Universidad Católica Boliviana in La Paz, Bolivia, and a Master’s in Business Law from Universidad Carlos III de Madrid in Spain. He also earned postgraduate degrees from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid and Universidad del Valle. He is fluent in English and Spanish.
